<image:caption>Once your mechanical issues have been treated and your bio-mechanical movement has been corrected, you get to put your body to the test! This is all about performance integration. Here, you’ll get to apply everything you have learned to your normal routine, whether that’s weight-lifting technique, running form, sprinting and jumping mechanics or living your best active life.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Philosophy - Correct</image:title>
<image:caption>Once your mechanical limitations or pains have been treated, your physical therapist will work with you to develop your personalized recovery toolkit - involving education to understand the why, tools to understand the what and corrective exercises to understand the how so you can get your body moving again! This is important to avoid falling back on bad habits and faulty postural movement patterns.</image:caption>

<image:title>About - My experience as an injured athlete is what initially attracted me to the study of physical therapy.</image:title>
<image:caption>A problem-solver by nature, the pain of not being able to do what you love is something that bothered me far more than the physical pain of an injury. This prompted me to pursue an undergraduate degree in Exercise Science from Sacred Heart University, followed by a Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy. With my education, and a few years of practice under my belt, and a lot more knowledge about human bio-mechanics, I decided to treat my knee myself. I applied my new-found understanding of movement and muscles and started running again with a new technique. My physical activity continued to improve and today I compete in a number of athletic competitions including the NYC Decathlon for charity. I am an avid fitness enthusiast training at Lifetime Fitness and with athletes at studios like Barry’s Bootcamp, Tone House, The Training Lab, The Fhitting Room, Solid Core, and Humming Puppy. I also play competitive recreational volleyball with the Urban Volleyball League.</image:caption>

<image:title>About - Physical therapy that starts with empathy.</image:title>
<image:caption>As an athlete who has lived with injury for many years, empathy forms a core part of my practice. I don’t do cookie cutter care. I don’t believe in wasted time. I believe in giving my clients the tools, knowledge and capacity to get back to doing what they love. I founded KO Physical Therapy in 2018 as a private concierge practice where each treatment session involves a full hour that is spent with your physical therapist. Unlike other clinics that are constrained by barriers like time-limits and in-network insurance restrictions, I believe in putting the health and well-being of my clients first. At KO Physical Therapy, our mission is to serve the active NYC population with a progressive and integrative system called TREAT. CORRECT. PERFORM, synthesizing the best of physical rehabilitation with high performance athletic training.</image:caption>

      <image:title>About - Hi, I’m Kerry!</image:title>
<image:caption>I am a competitive athlete and board certified Doctor of Physical Therapy who has been practicing in the New York area for over ten years. You might have scene me around in the gyms blending in! As an athlete, I know what it’s like to have something taken away from you because your body let you down. Over 15 years ago, following a knee injury, I was diagnosed with irreversible infrapatellar fat pad impingement syndrome. I was told to give up running and try biking or swimming. As for surgery? It was out of the question. As a competitive Division One track and field athlete, this meant no more pole vaults, hurdles, jumping, runs on the beach, long hikes, jogs with my dog…nothing. As you can imagine, this prognosis was devastating. Sports physical therapy allowed me to rehabilitate my knee enough to compete and train again. I could squat 255 pounds, leap 18 feet and spring over 12 feet in the air using a pole. I won the Northeast Conference Champion in the pole vault in 2010 and came runner up twice more. Although I had performance successes, my overall fitness was still compromised. I could not jog for more than 5-10 minutes without debilitating pain. The consequence of pushing my limits was not being able to walk the next day. Physical therapy and cortisone shots didn’t help, and so I quit trying to run for about 5 years. I can still remember this painful moment.</image:caption>

<image:title>Testimonials - “In 2018, I tore my right ACL on the American Ninja Warrior Course. I was devastated…I knew that the first thing to do was to find a physical therapist for before and after surgery to keep me strong…Kerry not only gave me hope but she also gave me the time and knowledge I needed to get back to the level of athletics I was before. I saw her 3x a week and with manual therapy and the exercises she gave me I was able to compete back in Ninja in Season 11, feeling confident. I was even able to make it back to finals again.”</image:title>

<image:caption>“Kerry has been an integral part of my fitness journey. After much wear and tear of my body from dancing for many years, plus lifting and conditioning, my Achilles and knee tendinitis hit an all-time high. Kerry was able to manage me in such a way that I was able to still perform in my usual outlets of boxing, dancing, heavy lifting, sprinting, and long hours on my feet.” “We finally came to terms that I had to take some time off to fully be able to have a true come back. During that time of rest, Kerry was super hands-on and a great support system when I was feeling down. And now a year later after some proper rest, I am able to run without pain and I’m training in a way that respects my body so that I’m in it for the long haul. So grateful for the experience and support I had with Kerry!”</image:caption>

<image:caption>“Throughout these last 8 years of competing I endured a significant amount of injuries: avulsion in my groin, torn TFCC in my wrist, torn quad, torn shoulder, and chronic back contusions. Kerry has provided rehab and maintenance for me after every surgery that I have had. I can confidently say that if not for her I would not be able to continue training with a goal to compete at a national level again.” “She has always been successful at figuring out which muscle was either impinged, strained, or torn when other physicians and physical therapist failed to. She never rushed through any therapy sessions no matter how full her schedule was. She also always managed to see me immediately whenever I suffered from another injury so that it did not develop into something worse. There aren’t many therapists like Kerry in the New York tri-state area. I have always said she is my mechanic for my body.”</image:caption>

<image:caption>“Recovering from injuries is a painful physical and mental experience, and I've found it's critical to have the right PT working with you to clear all of these obstacles. Kerry was a game changer when it came to putting me back together on several occasions - hip dysfunction and my Achilles Tendon were persistent problems, and often required a ton of pain treatment.” “I found she does an amazing job of identifying the root cause of the problem, course correcting movement, and setting you up to avoid further injuries. As someone who tries to maintain an active lifestyle with sports and working out, I can't thank Kerry enough for all the time she's spent treating me always with a fun and positive attitude!”</image:caption>

<image:caption>“Kerry pinpointed my injury and helped me recover and get back to running far sooner than I’d imagined would be possible. Kerry was incredibly effective irregardless of the fact that most of our sessions were virtual. Kerry also identified multiple areas where I could benefit from strength training to prevent incurring the same or other injuries in the future, improving my form and strength in areas where I didn’t even know I needed improvement. I’m grateful for the injury that led me to Kerry, she has made me a better athlete!”</image:caption>
